A Short History of Britain

Anglo Saxon Britain

Hi kids! Here is an interesting site to learn a bit more about these tribes that invaded Britain after the Romans left. Check it out!

And, of course, don't forget to add the following site to your favourites! It will be a great help for you when studying British history, and we will be using it in class a lot too!

The Church in the Middle Ages

Hi kids!
The Church was extremely important for the people in medieval Europe, as we have

already seen. This video shows the importance of the Church in those times.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra2t3S8jp8w

Now, after watching the video, answer the following questions:

1) Why was the Church so important?

2) How was it supported?

3) Why did people give money to the Church?

4) Was the building of a cathedral a simple task? Why?

5) Why were cathedrals decorated with stained windows depicting religious stories?

Watch again the images of cathedrals.

What was, in your opinion, the importance of having a cathedral in a certain place?
